Jennings, an engineer who has had part of his memory erased, struggles to to find clues to his whereabouts for the past two years. Turns out his employer did the evil deed as a security measure, leaving him only with a collection of random objects to help him reconstruct his past. What seemed like a breezy idea for an engineer to net him millions of dollars, leaves him on the run for his life and piecing together why he's being chased. It's easy to describe this film as a rip off from TOTAL RECALL . That's down to the fact that both films use a Philip K Dick story as their source . However where as TOTAL RECALL coupled bloody visuals with mind bending clever concepts PAYCHECK just feels like a mediocre poor man's version of Arnie's 1990 sci-fi classic . Perhaps the main problem is just how self limiting the " Man waking up , discovering he's lost his memory and if I'm not me who the hell am I ? " subgenre is ? MEMENTO needed to a gimmick of reverse story telling to get its self noticed which says a lot

There's a familiar feel to this but you're constantly reminded of other and admittedly much better films . There's a whole pile of flaws with PAYCHECK . The set-up uses a sci-fi plot device of the protagonist having his memory wiped but this technology is quickly forgotten about as the narrative just becomes a runaraound with car chases , explosions and shoot outs . At least TOTAL RECALL had thought provoking plot turns and concepts amongst the excessive carnage . Ben Affleck is someone closely associated with Matt Damon . In fact they were something of a double act in their early careers and Affleck is surely the untalented junior partner in the working relationship . Watching him here it's impossible not to be reminded of the Bourne movies and the Bourne movies also show how old fashioned John Woo's action sequences are in comparison

If there's any positive points about PAYCHECK it's that there's an in joke of having a character called Deckard who is Harrison Ford's character in BLADE RUNNER which was based on another Philip K Dick story . It's also interesting to see Ben Affleck play a character who has no past when it's painfully obvious that as a movie star he doesn't have much of a future either . Slightly cruel I know but as someone who has the range of a water pistol he probably had a better career than he deserved . Getting to be best friends with Matt Damon certainly helped am far less impressed. It is only fair to say, however, that Dick has been getting a lot of cinema credit lately, and that is good.

Too bad PAYCHECK has been reduced to teeny-bopper fare. Affleck was advertised and "smart and sexy," but as a male I am unimpressed. The character is totally unbelievable. Moreover, the knock-out who inevitably becomes his girlfriend, Ph.D. in biology who looks like a cover of COSMOPOLITAN and acts like a Vegas tart – and really comes through super-liberated in a fight – is likewise.

I know: what an old foof, you say. He wants his geniuses to look like Jeremy Brett and his heroines to look like Helen Mirren. Well, not quite, but it would be an improvement. This software genius, collar ad, hell-bent motorcycle jockey (for the INEVITABLE car chase) and martial artist is simply too much. The most believable character, not, sorry to say the fine Canadian actor Colm Fiore, is the goofy bearded side-kick and comic relief.

This is pure Generation Y stuff. It is built upon a clever premise and loused up in the delivery and exploiting of "sexy" principals. Unfortunately, after watching Paycheck, you may wish you had the picture's gimmickry at your disposal, so you could erase your own memory of it. It is based on a short story Paycheck, written by Phillip K. Dick in the 1950s. There are several differences in the film and the original story (including the items Jennings gets from the envelope), but the basic premise is similar to the original. Notable features of the story that are different from the book are:

* Although the setting is 21-century America, it is a more dystopian future. A recent change in government has been referred to, the new government has a secret police force that supposedly never releases its detainees, the new government uses "credits" instead of "dollars", and individual citizens have significantly fewer rights than corporations do.

* Rethrick is a much older man and has no prior connection with Jennings.

* Although there is a potential love interest who works for the company named Kelly, she does not encounter Jennings until after the memory wipe and has a "surprise ending" secret that is not in the movie.

* Technology is significantly different. Erasing memory is a secret that most people do not know about (including the goverment agents who arrest Jennings). Rethrick's company still has significant manual labor. Cameras still require mechanical film. Rockets that transport people between cities are commonplace. And, the device that Jennings develops for Rethrick not only sees things but can also retrieve things.

* The plot features a lot more blackmail and threat of blackmail. Rethrick is generally unaware of Jennings' experiences after the memory wipe and it is Jennings who is looking for Rethrick, not the other way around.

* The climax of the short story is completely different from that of the movie. In the story, Jennings sneaks into the company alone, rather than with a partner as in the film (in the story he enlists Kelly's help, but simply asks her to keep whatever he finds safe so that it doesn't fall into the hands of the authorities) using a piece of cloth among his belongings that identifies him as a worker. He also had no interest in destroying the machine (identified as a "time scoop"), he simply wanted to photograph it (the device itself was illegal and the company was part of a resistance against an oppressive government). The film also adds in a climatic shootout that destroys most of the building, while in the original short story Jennings merely snuck out through a back door he had left himself a key to.

* The movie ends with Rethrick being killed while Jennings escapes and goes on to live with Rachel; the short story ends with Jennings successfully blackmailing Rethrick into making him a partner in the corporation, hinting at the possibility that he may eventually find a way to take over. a5c7b9f00b Hot Pepper full movie in hindi free download hd 720pSaving for the Day movie download2.0 tamil dubbed movie downloadCaptain Marvel movie in hindi dubbed downloadAli Baba in a Suit full movie in hindi 720pSawayaka deai misaki tarou tamil pdf downloadEveryday Heroes full movie download in hindihindi Double TeamA Girl Appears malayalam full movie free downloadDownload hindi movie Birds of Prey
